How We Work

We are focused on meeting all resident's needs and making sure their views are listened to at all times.

Care Plans and Carers

The Care Plan includes details of their health care needs, medication, details of their GP and any other therapeutic services involved in their care. The care management plan also includes their social interest and activities and how these are met and any arrangements to attend religious services of their choice and for contacts with relatives and friends.

Each resident is allocated a Team Leader who is responsible for monitoring and co-ordinating their care requirements. Regular reviews with residents and their relatives are held to ensure that all care needs and requirements are being met.

A Key worker is also allocated to each resident; their responsibilities include assisting the resident with personal shopping and ensuring they have everything they need.

Meals and Activities

A choice of meals is available and all meal times are flexible. Residents can arrange to have their meals in the dining room or if they wish in the privacy of their own room. Click here to see a sample menu.

We have 3 communal lounges, one for watching television, one as a quiet lounge and one for meeting friends/activities. This provides choice and reflects our resident's interests. Click here to see a sample activity list.

Procedures

A comprehensive Quality Policies and Procedures manual which is constantly under review. An important part of our approach to quality care is to obtain the views of our residents and their relatives. We do this by having an open door policy and an annual resident's questionnaire.

Built into a new residents occupancy agreement is a monthly period, which provides time for the resident, and their relatives to decide if this is the right home for them. During this period the residents care and support needs are assessed discussed and an agreed individual management plan is developed. The aim is to agree a plan of care that everyone is happy with.

Fees

Fees start from £415.00 per week and are paid four weeks in advance. The fees include all accommodation costs, food and drink, heating and lighting, laundry and domestic services and any other services provided by staff. Residents are expected to pay from their personal allowances or private income for such items as newspapers, magazines, books, tapes and preferred toiletries and for additional services provided at The Good Companions such as hairdressing and chiropody.

Residents are also free to make their own arrangements for buying in such services. Fees are reviewed annually or more often if changes are needed to the service plan.
