Good Companions has a reputation for providing quality support services.  Our recruitment process ensures that the staff we employ are capable and competent in their chosen role.  Care staff must have a professional yet empathic approach to care delivery and the desire to work with people who have a wide range of sometimes complex care needs.
We acknowledge that carers will bring with them different skills and knowledge gained working in the care sector.  Our mandatory training package ensures that each new employee develops the knowledge and skillset to carry out care provision to people with varying levels of care needs.

To ensure that we are fully compliant with current legislation which governs the Health and Social Care Sector our recruitment process is comprehensive and consists of the following stages;

  • Initial Application this is an indepth application form which includes personal details, employment history, qualifications and referees.
  • Shortlisting Process once completed application forms are received in the office they go through the shortlisting process which is done by members of the Care Management Team. Although there are no set qualifications for the role of a Support Worker the shortlisting team will be looking out for evidence that the applicant possesses the caring nature which every Support Worker needs.
  • Interview if the applicant successfully passes the shortlisting stage they will be invited to a formal interview with two members of the Management Team. The interview is structured and consists of various questions and scenarios which will enable the Management Team to assess the competence of the applicant.
  • Final Selection after the interview the Management Team will make an informed decision as to whether the applicant is suitable for the relevant post.
  • Disclosure and Barring Service and Reference Checks if an applicant is successful they will then be invited back to the office where they will complete their DBS check online. All applicants must receive a DBS check prior to employment commencing. At this point the Administration Team will apply for two references. All job offers are subject to receiving a clear DBS check and two satisfactory references.
